How many times do you think about your brain health? Most of us don’t. But it’s so much more important than most of us think!
Brain health is your the key to your overall health because the brain is what makes everything happen. If your brain is healthy, your mind and body can be healthy.
This smoothie combines a bunch of brain superfoods like walnuts, wild blueberries, cacao, avocado, and coconut oil in one smoothie so that you can get a brain booster shot in one go. And if you make this smoothie for breakfast, you’re set for the day!
The recipe doesn’t include a sweetener and I like it that way (i feel like we need to give our bodies a break from sugar, especially at breakfast), but if you want some sweetness, you can add 20g of coconut sugar.
Instead of coconut sugar to sweeten it (if desired), you can use 30ml maple syrup or 2 Medjool dates.
Breakfast, snack.
90g fresh or frozen wild blueberries
30g toasted walnuts or raw walnuts, soaked overnight in filtered water
10g cacao powder
50g avocado pulp
50g fresh leafy greens (kale, Swiss chard, spinach or collard greens)
12ml extra-virgin coconut oil
300ml almond milk or water
20g coconut sugar
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend on high until completely smooth. Taste, and add coconut sugar if desired. Blend again.
Serve cold.
