We think we might have just figured out the best granola recipe – ever!

The best part is that it’s completely customizable – you can use any seeds, nuts, spices and dried fruit that you want with these guidelines. Believe us, after making your own granola at home, you won’t want to buy store-bought again!

Best Customizable Granola

Makes about 3 quarts

Ingredients:
400g rolled oats
200g raw pumpkin seeds
100g raw peanuts
100g raw cashews
200g raw sunflower seeds
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground cardamom
60g coconut oil, melted
164g maple syrup
2 pinches sea salt
2 vanilla pods, seeds extracted

EXTRAS:
Add any dried fruit you want. We like dried apricots, dried cranberries, raisins, or dates.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Toast all dry items (except spices) in the oven, separately, until lightly toasted. Start with the oats: line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place all oats on top. Place in the oven and toast until fragrant and lightly golden. Keep checking every 10 minutes. Repeat for seeds and nuts. Don’t throw away the parchment paper, you’ll need it later!

  2. Combine all wet ingredients in a bowl (if it’s cold where you are, you might have to do this in a pan over the stove to melt the coconut oil).

  3. Combine all dry ingredients in a big bowl (or 2). Mix well. Add wet ingredient mixture and mix again to make sure it’s all covered.

  4. Bake in 2 batches – use the same baking sheets lined with parchment paper – each for about 35 mins, checking and stirring every 10 mins.

  5. Take out of the oven, mix in dried fruit (if using) and let cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Enjoy!
